Digital lenses are fabricated using the latest computer-driven equipment and proprietary software to ensure your patients receive the exact prescriptions for their unique wearing parameters. Unlike traditional lens processing techniques, where a simple spherical or Toric pattern is surfaced onto the back of a lens to accommodate the pre molded front surface design, Digital lenses are fabricated using computer controlled "Point to Point” backside surfacing that is guided by 3000 to 5000 cut points. This allows for complex multi-curve surfaces. The back surface (closer to the eye) contains 100% of your patients Rx. (sphere, cylinder, axis, and add power) while the front surface is a perfect sphere. Using this technology we can achieve a level of accuracy of .05 compared to the standard of .12 D.
Every lens is engineered to account for the most minute variations in prescription, face measurements and frame measurements. The result, Digital lenses are personalized to ensure the best vision whether your patient needs single vision lenses or PALs where distance, intermediate, and near viewing zones are optimized to ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction. Every lens is precisely true and without unwanted elliptical error. This represents a new revolution in vision.
Customized general purpose PAL’s: Each Digital PAL is created using information that is not considered in conventional PAL’s. Individual design is modified to best accommodate the full Rx (including cylinder and axis). Frame size and shape are considered in the calculation of the optimal design. Multiple intermediate corridor sizes are made possible to best suit each patient.
Many Digital PAL’s also are able to modify lens design and resultant power to best suite the unique (a) vertex distance (b) Panto angle of the frame (c) Panoramic (Wrap) angle of the frame. In these Digital lens types the Prescribed Rx is actually modified to create best visual performance in the eyeglasses actual “as worn” position.

Sport or fashion wrap sun wear often require higher than appropriate base curve selection for many patients Rx’s. Digital fabrication goes a long way in curing this dispensing dilemma. The greater control provided in the surfacing process enable minus powers of up to -6.00D to be fabricated on 6,7,8 base curve lenses. These lenses provide excellent visual stability and clarity. The ability to decenter (move the optics to the inside of the lens) also enables lenses to be made for patients with smaller PD’s wishing to wear the large sunglasses popular today.

These activity specific Digital PAL’s are created with a design emphasis on the intermediate and distance visual zones. Since sunglasses are worn outside, why not provide a PAL design optimized to provide better functionality in the areas most used when your patients are driving, playing golf, or walking on the beach?

These lenses are created specifically for indoor (office) use. They provide added comfort and freedom in the near and intermediate zones. The intermediate zones can be altered to consider each patients unique work environment.
